Safe in Town Learning Platform

The European Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.
1. Who We Are
Safe in Town is a transnational project co-financed by the European Union (Grant Agreement n°101195346), coordinated by Defence for Children International Italy (DCI Italy) in partnership with CESIS (Portugal), Defence for Children International Greece, and Hope for Children (Cyprus). The project works to strengthen child protection at the municipal level in four European cities: Genova (Italy), Matosinhos (Portugal), Chania (Greece), and Strovolos (Cyprus).
This Platform is a free online learning environment provided as part of the project to train professionals who work with and for children. By registering and using this Platform, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
2. Who Can Use This Platform
This Platform is for adults only. You may use it if you are:
o 18 years of age or older
o A professional or volunteer working in child safeguarding, education, social services, law enforcement, healthcare, or a related field
o Accessing the Platform for legitimate learning and professional development purposes
This Platform is not intended for children.
3. Your Account
To access courses, you need to create a personal account. When you register, you agree to:
o Provide accurate and truthful information about yourself
o Keep your login credentials confidential
o Not share your account with anyone else
o Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use of your account
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.
4. How You May Use the Platform
You are welcome to:
o Access and complete all available courses and learning materials
o Download materials marked as available for personal and professional use
o Participate in forums and discussions in a respectful and constructive manner
o Share what you have learned with colleagues in your professional context
You must not:
o Use the Platform for any purpose other than professional learning and development
o Copy, reproduce, or distribute Platform content without written permission
o Upload or share unlawful, offensive, or inappropriate content
o Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Platform’s technical infrastructure
o Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or professional role
o Use the Platform to promote commercial products or services
5. Content and Intellectual Property
All content on this Platform — including course materials, videos, documents, and graphics — is the property of the Safe in Town Project partners or its licensed sources, and is protected by copyright.
Materials may be used for personal study and non-commercial professional purposes. Any other use requires prior written authorisation from the Project.
Content posted by users (such as forum contributions or assignments) remains the responsibility of the user. By posting content, you grant the Project a non-exclusive licence to display that content within the Platform.
6. Your Personal Data
We collect and process your personal data solely to operate this Platform and deliver training services. Your data will never be sold or used for advertising purposes.

7. Availability and Changes
We aim to keep the Platform available at all times, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We will endeavour to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
We reserve the right to modify or update content and these Terms at any time. Continued use after notification of changes constitutes acceptance.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Platform and its content are provided for informational and training purposes only. We do not guarantee that all content is complete, current, or error-free.
The Project partners shall not be liable for any loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Platform. Professional decisions should always be based on up-to-date guidance and relevant national legislation.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Platform and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if the Platform is discontinued at the end of the Project funding period.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable EU law and the national law of Italy, where the lead partner is registered. Any disputes shall be subject to the competent courts of Genova, Italy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions in the user’s country of residence.
